911 Emergency Preparedness Project for People with Disabilities and their Families
Emergencies and disasters can strike quickly and without warning and can force you to evacuate your neighborhood or confine you to your home. What would you do if basic services-water, gas, electricity or telephones were cut off?
After a disaster, local officials and relief workers will be on the scene, but they cannot reach everyone immediately. You could get help in hours, or it may take a day. Would you or your family be prepared to cope with the emergency until help arrives? And what if you're an individual or have a family member who has special needs?
